What About Santa?

Long before my husband & I married, we decided we would not lie to our future children about Santa. That doesn’t mean we won’t “do” Santa. We just aren’t going to great lengths to sell the “behave so elves in the North Pole will magically gift you via a guy sneaking into our home” thing. We also aren’t going to miss the opportunity to tell the real Santa Claus (St. Nikolas) story.

As far as “Santa” - that’s a character created in the nature of St. Nikolas that we can embody when anonymously gifting others during the Christmas season. You could be Santa to anybody, and anybody could be Santa to you. This jaw-on-the-floor gift they always wanted wrapped up in a bow with their name on it - who’s it from?!?! Who knows. It’s not about the giver it’s about the joy of the person receiving. No giver, no debt. That’s the idea of Santa we practice. St. Nikolas’ anonymous generosity begot the true spirit of Christmas.
